This is an overview of five facets of strong expository writing written in student-friendly language. In contrast to other “facets of writing” guides, this is condensed, simplified, and utilizes guiding questions that are written in ways young writers can respond to.
The audience of this overview is students, not teachers, which is clear by the use of language, images, and overall graphic design. With this in mind, this can (and should) be given directly to students, with mini-lesson potential by each individual facet (modeling, gradual release of responsibility, etc.)
The more consistently it is used, the greater fluency students will have in using it!
